What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda literally means the "Science of Life".
The use of herbal remedies is an intrinsic part of the
everyday life of the East. Believed to have its roots
in the foothills
of the Himalayas, Ayurveda is a herbal-based traditional
curative science, unique to India and Sri Lanka.
Ayurveda strives to achieve equilibrium between body,
mind and spirit, and thus, enhance the well being of a
person.
Ayurveda combines a study of the physical, mental and
emotional aspects of health. For treatment, Ayurveda relies
heavily
on the use of remedies made from herbs and individual
dietary and exercise regimes.
Our Ayurveda programs are conducted at select Ayurveda
resorts, in close proximity to the warm waters of the
Indian
Ocean. Thus combining the concept of vacation with that
of revitalizing and healing.
An Ayurvedic health cure is a preventive measure for the
preservation of health up to old age.
It also cleanses the body and is appropriate for well-being
during post-convalescence and recuperation from acute
or
chronic illness.
Consequences of Ayurvedic treatment are clear eyes, a
refined skin tone, a robust nervous system, revitalization
and regeneration with an increased zest for life.
Conditions successfully treated by ayurveda include: Diabetes,
Stress, Migraine, Headaches, Overweight, High Cholesterol,
High Blood Pressure, Bronchial Asthma, Sleep Disturbances
and illnesses of the Respiration Tract, Heart and Circulation.
Ayurveda has been practiced for the last 2,500 years in
this part of the world. Ayurveda is the unique ancient
herbal
medicine and health philosophy of Sri Lanka. With roots
deep in the history that gave birth to Buddhism in Sri
Lanka,
Ayurveda is based on the ancient wisdom of good living.
The means of healing available in nature, like herbs and
spices, plants, leaves, flowers, oil extracts, gems and
stones, combined with secrets passed down from generation
to generation
to revitalize the essence of the body's potential. It
provides both a health therapy for general well-being
and a medical therapy as an efficacious cure. |
